"I have just completed a nine month internship coordinating the European Projects for the Craoibhín. It has completely exceeded my expectations. In the beginning, what appealed to me most was the chance to gain some valuable work experience whilst travelling to European countries as an added bonus. At the end of my internship I feel that I have gained much more than I ever imagined possible.
"During my time here I have been working on several European projects including Rural Economic Development and StorySavers projects. I have travelled to project meetings in London, Greece and Spain and met many interesting people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds. Each of these trips took me off the beaten track and let me experience parts of the world that are normally unknown and unexplored by tourists."
"One of the things that interested me most of all was the constant flow of new ideas and projects that we researched, investigated and applied for. There was always something new on the agenda which made the work interesting and stimulating. I became proficient in preparing and completing new project proposals as part of my day to day duties through attending courses provided by Leargás throughout the internship."
"I also developed my communication skills interacting and managing projects that included working with different nationalities on a day to day basis in a working environment. Project managing meetings to Ireland from our European partners has given me experience in organizing events, travel arrangements, managing budgets and working with different local Irish organizations."
"I have found the internship both enjoyable and valuable and have particularly enjoyed working in an organization that was both friendly and welcoming with its strong sense of commitment to the development of its local community."
