Personal Alarm / Pendant

To enable older people to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind by providing them with a free personal monitored alarm. It is administered locally by community and voluntary groups from your area. 

How does it work?

It can be either a watch or a pendant. When pressed it connects wirelessly to a base unit usually attached to a phone. The base unit immediately sends a call to a 24 hour monitoring service.

How much does it Cost?

The equipment is free if you qualify.  There is however an annual montitoring fee of €66.00 for the alarm. 

Who is eligible?

  • Aged 65 years and older
  • Of limited means or resources - proof of earnings will not be requested but an indication of general weekly income will be required as part of the application.
  • Living alone, living with another person who meets the eligibility criteria.
  • Resides within the Termon, Kilmacrennan or Gartan area. 
  • Prepared to make contact with the organisation.

How long does it take to install?

We will apply to Pobal on your behalf and once approved we will contact you to organise installation.

What happens if I do not qualify?

If you do not qualify, prices for the equipment is as of the 23rd June, 2017 €250.00 Equipment/€150.00 Re-conditioned Equipment (Used at trade show only and in perfect working order) and €9.50 Monthly rental per person. However Craoibhin Community Centre will not administer the scheme if you do not qualify but we can provide you with the necessary contact numbers.
